Nutritional Therapy Consultation

Foods and herbal remedies have been used for thousands of years to help cure the sick and keep individuals healthy. Nutritional therapy aims to treat the root cause of a disease and not just suppress symptoms and to help you achieve optimum health and to maintain it.

Nutritional therapists treat each person individually as our bodies are unique and will have different requirements for optimum health. During a nutritional consultation, a full case study will be taken of your diet, lifestyle and health history, and an assessment will be made identifying any potential imbalances, that may be making you feel unwell and will work with you to address and remedy not just the symptoms, but the underlying cause.

Anyone can see a nutritional therapist, whether you have symptoms that are making you feel unwell or you require advice on maintaining your current health. If you suffer from conditions such as:

The Consultation:

Before attending your consultation you will be sent a detailed questionnaire (via email or post) covering questions relating to your medical history, your diet and your lifestyle. This will usually take approximately 20 minutes to complete. We encourage you to really think about your answers as some of this information will be used to construct your personalised eating and lifestyle programme. You then need send your completed questionnaire back to Think Nutrition.

 Initial Consultation:
Your first consultation will last approximately 1 hour. During this time our nutritional therapist will ask you about your medical history, your current state of health, your lifestyle, activity levels and eating habits in order to assess your current nutritional status.

Your nutritional therapist will then explain the possible cause(s) of your health concerns and the steps you may wish to in order to remedy them. If a certain area needs further investigation, appropriate biochemical testing may be recommended.

We will then work with you to create a personalised dietary and lifestyle programme and you will be given relevant handouts and menu plans to support these suggestions. A programme of nutritional supplements may also be recommended in order to correct any biochemical imbalances and nutrient deficiencies.

Your needs will be fundamental throughout the whole consultation. It is vital that we work with you to create a plan that is both appropriate to your needs, taste and budget and achievable within your lifestyle.

Continuing Support
Your nutritional therapist will act as your personal support throughout your programme and will be available to assist and guide you when you need it. You can send an e mail to us at any time. Alternatively, you can contact us via telephone.  We will endeavour to answer your query within 24 hours unless a set time for contact has been agreed.

We believe that continuing support is vital to the success of your programme, therefore we will contact you around 2-3 weeks into your plan to see how you are progressing.

Follow - Up
We usually recommend at least one follow up consultation about 6 weeks after the initial meeting. This is to assess the progress of your plan, to discuss any testing that we may have instructed on your behalf and to update or change any recommendations made. We will also review the effectiveness of your supplement programme.

It may be beneficial to meet for further consultations. This will depend on your specific health profile and your individual goals.
